AAS in Diagnostic Medical Imaging Radiography (X-Ray Tech)
The hybrid associate degree in Radiography, recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue a career as an X-Ray Tech.
The program curriculum includes over 800 clinical externship hours and follows recommendations of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) and American College of Radiology (ACR).
Graduates are eligible to:
- Sit for Registered Radiography Technologist certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and upon passing the ARRT certification exam:
- Apply for an Illinois license in Accreditation in Medical Radiography by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
- Apply for a Radiologic Technologist license with Indiana Department of Health
- Apply for a Radiographer license with Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services
AAS in MRI Technology
The hybrid associate degree program in MRI technology, recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and accredited by the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT), prepares students for a rewarding career as an MRI Tech.
The program curriculum includes over 800 clinical externship hours and meets the educational requirements for professional certification for MRI Technologists in the state of Illinois and our neighboring states of Indiana and Wisconsin.
Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for the following nationally recognized certifications:
- Registered MRI Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Certified MRI Technologist by the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Technologist
MCC’s hybrid 1-year EEG Tech certificate is one of the few in the United States recognized by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET).
The program curriculum includes two didactic semesters, 550 hours of clinical externship rotation, and ABRET certification exam prep to help students start their EEG Tech careers with confidence.
Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for:
- Nationally-recognized ABRET Electroencephalographic (EEG) exam upon completing their clinical competencies.
AAS in Surgical Tech
The hybrid associate degree program, programmatically accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), is designed to prepare students for a rewarding career as a Certified Surgical Tech (CST).
The program curriculum includes 270 hours of clinical OR rotation and the completion of min. 120 surgery cases and meets the educational requirements for professional certification for Surgical Technologists in the state of Illinois and our neighboring states of Indiana and Wisconsin.
Graduates of MCC’s AAS in Surgical Technology program are eligible to sit for the following nationally recognized industry certifications:
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
- Certified Sterile Processing Tech through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
Medical Assisting
MCC students have an option to choose between 40-week Medical Assisting and 60-week Clinical Medical assisting hybrid certificates. Clinical Medical Assisting program curriculum includes 165 hours of clinical externship rotation with an extensive network of clinical partners.
Both program tracks offer preparation for nationally-recognized Medical Assisting certifications, as well as practical training and certification preparation for EKG Technician and Phlebotomy Tech professions. This comprehensive approach significantly broadens the employment opportunities available to our MA graduates.
Graduates of the Medical Assisting program are eligible to sit for the following industry certifications:
National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT):
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- National Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT)
- Certified EKG Technician (NCET)
National Healthcareer Association (NHA):
- Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)
- EKG Technician (CET)
American Medical Technologists (AMT):
- Registered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT)
In addition to all the industry certifications above, graduates of the Clinical Medical Assisting program are also eligible to sit for:
- All the industry certifications of the Medical Assisting track plus
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam through American Medical Technologists (AMT) and
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
